Dragons Dominate Providence, 152-85

Providence, R.I. - Drexel men's swimming & diving went on the road to put on an impressive performance in defeating Providence, 152-85. The Dragons swept all relay action and had five different swimmers earn first-place finishes. Adrian Sabovici and Cem Karali each took a pair of victories while Ian Jevnick swept both boards in diving action.
The foursome of Mert Karsiyakalilar, Sherif Madkour, Armagan Yavuz and Matthew Tannenbaum opened the meet by earning the Dragons 11 points with a win the 200 medley relay. Their time of 1:51.61 bested Providence's top time of 1:56.45. Sabovici followed with a commanding win in the 1500 free as his winning time of 16:38.45 was more than 35 seconds faster than second-place. After a Providence win in the 200 free, Karali earned nine points with a time of 24.94 in the 50 free.
Madkour added to his relay win as he took the 100 fly with a time of 57.96. Karali posted his second win of the day in the 100 free as his time of 54.55 finished ahead of teammate Mike Keisling who took second with a time of 55.22. Karsiyakalilar won by more than three seconds in the 100 back as he recorded a time of 1:02.71. Matt Fenn won the 400 free with a time of 4:25.49 to notch his first win of the season in the event. Sabovici recorded his second win of the day in the 100 breast as was nearly four seconds faster than his closest competitor as the junior touched in 1:09.49. The Dragons closed the meet with a win in the 200 free relay by a mere 0.06 seconds as Fenn, Mike Keisling, Yavuz and Tannenbaum edged Providence's top team with a time of 1:38.95.
Divers Ian Jevnick and Jake Roberson took first and second, respectively, in both the 1- and 3-meter events.
Drexel returns to action tomorrow when the Dragons take on Rhode Island and UConn at 1:00 p.m.
