Dragons Overwhelm Howard in Final Tune-Up Before CAA's

Philadelphia - Drexel men's swimming & diving proved to be too much for Howard as the Dragons defeated the Bison, 142-76, at the Daskalakis Athletic Center. The dual was the last for Drexel before the season-ending Colonial Athletic Association Championships. Prior to the meet, Matthew Fenn, Cem Karali and Jake Roberson were honored as part of Senior Day festivities. Fenn and Karali each won events in their final appearance at Drexel Pool.
Drexel placed first in eight of the 11 swimming events and won the competition on both diving boards. The Dragons opened the meet with a victory in the 200 medley relay as Scott Bronsdon, Sherif Madkour, Karali and Matthew Tannenbaum took the event with a time of 1:41.70. In the next event, the Dragons placed three swimmers in the top three of the 1000 free with Preston Chaffee recording the winning time of 10:35.71. It was more of the same in the 200 free as both Drexel entries finished ahead of all three Bison entries. Craig Podgurski earned the Dragons nine team points with his 1:44.50 finish.
In his final meet at Drexel Pool, Fenn edged Jules Graham of Howard by 0.09 seconds in the 50 free to earn the win. Mert Karsiyakalilar led three Dragons in the 100 butterfly with a time of 51.76 as the Dragons finished the event in first, second and third. Podgurski followed with his second win of the day after timing a 48.01 in the 100 free. Karali took the 100 back event with a time of 54.03 before Michael Keisling won the 500 free with a time of 4:53.88.
In diving action, Ian Jevnick swept both boards as he scored a 352.20 in the 3-meter event and a 278.85 on the 1-meter board. Roberson took second in both with scores of 324.30 in the 3-meter and 277.40 in the 1-meter.
