Women's Swimming Posts Emphatic Win at Widener, 193-68

Chester, Pa. - The Drexel women's swimming team pulled off the rare feat of taking first place in every event as they rolled to a 193-68 victory at Widener. Ten different Drexel swimmers claimed first-place finishes in individual events as the Dragons rebounded from their season-opening defeat at Shippensburg.
After a victory in the 200 medley relay, Drexel's Jessica Csakai won the 1000 free by more than 37 seconds when she touched at 11:07.23. Sheeba Mankus followed with a victory in the 200 free while Maria Coman picked up the first of her two first-place finishes with a win in 100 back. She went on to win the 200 back as well. Amanda Brown won the 100 breast with a time of 1:11.08 with Malin Wiberg taking the 200 at 2:33.02. Wiberg also won the 200 IM at 2:17.39. Drexel swept the fly events with Alyssa Armstrong earning nine points as she touch in 1:04.27 while Victoria Mayer claimed the 200 fly at 2:20.48.
Drexel's freestyle winners were Devina Tyagi in the 50 (25.60), Morgan Cichewicz in the 100 (57.17), Lauren Faykes in the 500 (5:22.76) in addition to Mankus' and Csakai's wins in the 200 and 1000, respectively. The Dragons wrapped up the meet in style as Coman, Faykes, Tyagi and Mankus combined for a time of 3:47.46 in the 400 free relay to win by more than eight seconds.
Drexel returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 24 for the Dragons' home-opener as La Salle visits Drexel Pool at 1:00 p.m.
