Box Score
Towson, Md. - Tenth-ranked Drexel used three goals from Christina Mastropaolo, including the game-winner, to drop Towson, 5-2. The win was the Dragons' seventh straight with Mastropaolo recording the game-winning goal in each. She now leads the nation with 10 this season. The win moved Drexel to 16-2 overall and 6-1 in the Colonial Athletic Association and set up a season-ending showdown with No. 17 Delaware for the regular-season conference title on Sunday.
Mastropaolo recorded the game's first goal after finishing on a nice pass from classmate Susan Ciufo. After a yellow card to 2008 First Team All-CAA midfielder Carolina Gibernau, the Tigers answered on a penalty corner to knot the score at 1-1. Less than one minute later, Mastropaolo ripped off the first of two straight goals, the second on a Jen Cairone assist, to give Drexel a 3-1 lead heading into halftime.
The second half opened with Ciufo notching a goal on a pass from Mastropaolo to give Drexel a 4-1 lead. After a long scoreless streak, Towson picked up its second goal of the game but Cairone scored on a set play from a penalty corner from Jordan Freese to ice the contest.
Mastropaolo now has 26 goals this season as she extended the Drexel single-season record. Ciufo's goal was her 19th of the season matching her total from her sophomore season when she was named Third Team All-America.
On Sunday, Nov. 1, the Dragons will play in one of the biggest games in program history as the winner of their duel with rival Delaware will determine the regular-season champion and the host of the CAA Championships. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
