Women's Soccer Hosts VCU Under the Lights at Vidas

Philadelphia - The Drexel women's soccer team returns home on Friday to host VCU in a Colonial Athletic Association match. The Dragons and Rams kick off tonight's match at 7 p.m.
Drexel begins play tonight looking for its first CAA win of the season. The Dragons are 0-3-1 in conference play and 2-8-1 overall. Sophomore Jenna Lindsay leads the team with three goals and seven points. Three freshmen have been key contributors thus far on the offensive end. Juliana Speroni has two goals and two assists, Alex Vazquez has a goal and three assists and Sydney Douglas has netted a pair of goals.
Teams: Drexel (2-8-1, 0-3-1) vs. Virginia Commonwealth (5-5-2, 1-2-1)
Venue: Vidas Field, Philadelphia, Pa.
All-Time Series: VCU leads 7-0
Last Meeting: Drexel visited VCU last year where the Rams held on for a 1-0 win . With just 30 minutes remaining in regulation, VCU's offense lined up for a corner opportunity. Megan Flanagan served a ball that found sophomore Laurel Pastor just 15 yards from the net which she deposited in the upper right hand corner past goal keeper Kaitlin Bond. VCU outshot Drexel 17-7 in the game. Both Bond and Kali Van Covern of the Rams made five saves. After the goal, Drexel rallied with two good scoring opportunities both denied by Van Covern. Carly Snyder blasted a free kick on goal for the Dragons while Jenna Lindsay tested the net in the 88th minute.
Up Next: Drexel remains at home this weekend as they invite the Dukes of James Madison up for a match on Sunday October 11th. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
