
La Salle Rallies for 68-57 Victory Over Dragons

Philadelphia - Drexel (3-3) saw a 13-point first-half lead slip away in a 68-57 loss to city rival La Salle on Saturday. The Explorers (2-6) scored 42 points in the second half and shot 52.6 percent from the floor in the period to pull out their second victory of the season after trailing by six at halftime. Drexel's Gabriela Marginean led all scorers with 21 points. La Salle received balanced scoring with four players in double figures led by Morgan Robertson's 14 points, all of which came in the second half.
Drexel shot just 22.2 percent (6-for-27) in the second period and 2-for-13 from deep, which allowed La Salle to get back in the game. Jasmina Rosseel scored 13 points in the contest, 11 of them coming in the first half. Marisa Crane matched her career high with eight rebounds and also led the team with four assists.
La Salle used a 16-2 run to open up the second half and take an eight-point lead, 42-34, on a three-pointer by Ashley Gale. The Dragons would answer with a 6-0 run of their own capped by a Hollie Mershon three that made it 42-40 with 11:47 to play. La Salle then pushed its advantage to nine points at 53-44 with just under six minutes left on a pair of free-throws by Robertson.
Drexel would get its defecit down to three points on two free throws by Marginean at the 4:17 points to cap a 6-0 run. But Drexel would make just two more field goals in the duration of the contest and La Salle would make 14 of its last 16 free throws to close out the victory.
The Dragons are back in action next Sunday when they travel to play at Saint Joseph's at 2:00 p.m.
