Philadelphia - Head Coach Denise Dillon will look to pick up her 100th career coaching victory as the Dragons host crosstown rival La Salle today at 1:00 in the front end of a Saturday doubleheader with the men's team. The Drexel men will square off against CAA foe Northeastern at 4:00 p.m. in a contest that will be televised on The Comcast Network.
The Dragons are coming off a gritty 50-40 victory over American on Wednesday that improved their record to 3-2 overall. Gabriela Marginean scored 26 of her team's 50 points to offset a cold shooting performance by the Dragons. Tyler Hale scored a career-high 10 points to go with five rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block in a strong all-around performance. The contest was also Drexel's best defensive performance of the season, as the Dragons held American to just 40 points on 27 percent shooting from the floor.
La Salle enters today's game on a five-game losing skid. The Explorers lost to Georgetown earlier in the week and have struggled with their offense in the last four games. La Salle's lone win of the season came against Long Island in overtime. Forward Morgan Robertson leads the team in scoring and rebounding.
La Salle leads the all-time series 14-6 and won last year's meeting 48-46 at the Tom Gola Arena. The home team has emerged victorious in each of the last four meetings between these two teams. Today's game will be broadcast live on WKDU 91.7 FM with Pat Delsi and Mike Mazzeo calling the action. Fans can also catch the game via live audio on www.drexeldragons.com or watch it on Drexel Dragons All-Access. The game can also be followed via live stats by clicking here.
