Dragons Stun Northeastern in Boston, 62-58

Boston, Mass. – Drexel rallied from a 13-point second-half deficit to defeat Northeastern, 62-58. The Dragons improved to 9-5 in the CAA and 13-10 overall. Northeastern (16-8, 11-3) entered the game in first place in the conference.
Drexel trailed by 13 in the early going of the second half, but clamped down on the defensive end, which got it back in the game. The Dragons went on a 15-0 run midway and took a 33-31 lead. Drexel held the Huskies scoreless for just under seven minutes and took the lead when Evan Neisler scored on a lay-up. The game remained close and was tied with 4:12 to play. Drexel went ahead for god when Jamie Harris hit a pair of free throws with just over four minutes to play. The lead was extended to as many as eight with a minute and a half left before Northeastern made a late run that fell short.
Northeastern closed the first half with a 10-2 run and took a 23-15 lead into intermission. Eugene Spates had seven points in the first half as the Huskies' defense limited the Dragons to just six field goals. The Dragons also committed 10 turnovers in the opening period.
Scott Rodgers had 15 of his team-high 17 points in the second half. The senior also picked up six rebounds. Harris had 12 points and was 6-for-7 from the line. Samme Givens came off the bench to score 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Baptiste Bataille led the Huskies with 19 points.
The Dragons return home to face Towson on Sunday. The game can be seen live on The Comcast Network at 3 p.m.
