Dragons Ousted From CAA Tournament by Top-Seeded Seahawks

Norfolk, Va. - Drexel's 2009 season came to an abrupt halt at the hands of the UNC Wilmington Seahawks in the quarterfinals of the CAA Tournament. The No. 1 seed knocked the Dragons from the tournament with a 5-0 loss. The No. 9 Dragons upset Hofstra 4-3 on Thursday to advance on the first day of play and earn the right to face the top-seed UNC Wilmington. Drexel finished its 2009 campaign with a 6-7 mark overall.
UNC Wilmington earned a team point by winning 8-3 matches at second and third doubles. The Dragons' Joe Koebele and Carlo Pangilinan led 6-4 at first singles when the Seahawks clinched the doubles point. UNC Wilmington won matches at third, fourth, fifth and sixth singles in straight sets to close out the victory.
