Botelho and Allen Earn Academic All-District Honors

Philadelphia - Senior Ashley Botelho and sophomore Hillary Allen have been recognized by the College Sports Information Directors Association as recipients of ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District honors. Botelho, an accounting major with a 3.54 GPA was named to the Academic All-District First Team as a catcher. Allen, a teacher education major with a 3.72 GPA, was named to the Second Team as a pitcher. Botelho is now elegible for Academic All-America status as selected by CoSIDA.
Botelho took down most of Drexel's all-time offensive records this season, including the benchmarks for career hits, home runs, RBIs and total bases. She ranked among the CAA's leaders in batting average, home runs and slugging percent this season while helping the Dragons to one of the winningest seasons as a member of the conference.
Allen was Drexel's top pitcher in 2010, leading the team in starts, innings pitched, complete-games, shutouts, wins, strikeouts and earned run average. The 2009 All-Rookie selection anchored Drexel's starting rotation throughout the year, taking the ball against the team's toughest match-ups.
ESPN The Magazine Academic All-Americans are selected by a vote of CoSIDA members. Each member of the All-District First Teams are elegible to be voted to the All-America Team at season's end.
