Drexel Softball Season Comes to a Close at Stony Brook

Drexel carried a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning before Stony Brook scored four runs in its final at-bat to secure the walk-off win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Drexel broke through in the third inning. Olivia Sciulli reached and moved into scoring position before Kelsie Peters lifted a sacrifice fly to center field, bringing home the game's first run.
The Dragons added to the lead in the fourth. Ariana Castillo reached and later scored on a Quinn Cunningham single to center field, making it 2-0.
Drexel extended the advantage in the sixth inning. Natalie Alldred came around to score on a Castillo double to right center, pushing the lead to 3-0.
In the circle, Courtney Kols kept Stony Brook off the board through six innings, retiring all 18 batters she faced.
Stony Brook opened the seventh with a walk before a two-run home run cut the deficit to one. The Seawolves followed with a double and later brought home the tying and winning runs to complete the comeback.
BY THE NUMBERS
Kols worked 6.2 innings, allowing four runs on four hits with two strikeouts. She faced the minimum through six innings and took a perfect game into the seventh.
Castillo led Drexel with a 2-for-3 performance, including a double and an RBI.
Cunningham recorded a hit and drove in a run, while Peters added an RBI on a sacrifice fly.
Drexel totaled eight hits in the game.
The Dragons finish the season with 22 overall wins and 11 conference victories.
