Annapolis, Md. - Drexel golf opened the 2010-11 season at the Navy Fall Classic on the Naval Academy Golf Course where the Dragons placed 13th of 16 teams. Andrew Lawson and Ben Feld posted team-best scores of 153 in the two-day, two-round event. Delaware won the event with a score of 569 while the Dragons finished with a 619. Drexel bested a Navy squad, La Salle and McDaniel College.
The Dragons' first round was highlighted by James Braunsberg who fired a four-over par 75 with first-year player Ben Hinge just one shot behind with a 76. Lawson and Feld each shot 78 while Tom Beecher recorded an 85 in his first collegiate round of golf as Drexel carded a 307 to enter the second round in 14th place. During the second round, the golfers had to deal with a constant light rain that resulted in higher scores from nearly every team in the field. Despite the weather, Lawson and Feld posted 75's while Braunsberg and Beecher recorded 81's. Hinge took an 86 on the final round as Drexel overtook a Naval Academy squad to finish in 13th place after a second-round score of 312. Drexel's Michael Serensits also competed as an individual and finished with a 156 after a first-round 75 and a second-round 81.
