Dragons Continue CAA Action as They Host Hofstra Sunday at 4 p.m.

Philadelphia - Drexel (1-2, 6-12) picks up action in the second of four straight home matches Sunday, Jan. 30 at 7:00 p.m. The Dragons are looking to move to 500 in CAA action against a tough Hofstra Pride team. Last week Drexel won four out of 10 bouts in a 28-16 loss to No. 9 American as the Eagles pulled out the final five matches for the victory.
American struck first but Drexel used four straight victories to gain momentum and take the lead. Sophomore Joe Booth, 165 pounds, earned the first individual win with a sudden victory takedown over Patrick Graham for the 3-1 decision. Senior Justin Wieller, 174 pounds, picked up his second major decision on the season with a 9-1 win over Tananer Shaffer followed by junior Shawn Fausey's tight 4-2 decision pushing the Dragons on top 10-6. After a forfeit at 197 pounds in favor of Drexel, American went on to earn the final five bouts and the ultimate team win.
Hofstra most recently participated in the New York State Collegiate Championships where it took fifth place finish overall. The Pride's Steve Bonanno earned the 125 pound title while Ben Clymer, 184 pounds, and Paul Snyder, heavy weight, both placed second in their weight classes. Ranked No. 6 at 133 pounds on Intermat, senior Lou Ruggirello leads the Pride with 19 wins while junior P.J. Gillespie also boast a top 10 ranking at No. 10.
Match time is set for 7:00 p.m. at the John A. Daskalakis Athletic Center on 34th and Market Streets. Check back for updates after the match.
