Drexel Field Hockey Hosts No. 11 California on Sunday

Philadelphia – The Drexel women's field hockey team welcomes No. 11 California in a non-conference match-up on Sunday, October 2 at 12:00 p.m. at Buckley Field. The Dragons enter the contest 8-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play after defeating Towson, 4-1, on Friday night.
The all-time series between Cal-Berkley and Drexel is tied 1-1. In their last meeting in 2008, Amanda Kicera scored the game-winning overtime goal to help the Dragons top California, 2-1. Cal held a 10-7 edge in penalty corners and a 12-9 advantage in shots for the game. Drexel's Colleen McAndrew had a solid game with 10 saves.
The Golden Bears defeated Temple, 4-0, and improved to 10-2 on the season. California's five game winning streak was interrupted by Northwestern earlier this season. Sophomore forward Andrea Earle leads the attack with 11 goals, five assists, and 27 points. Freshman Lara Kruggel of Berlin, Germany has tallied seven assists for the Golden Bears. Senior goalkeeper Maddie Hand has totaled 47 saves on the season.
