Philadelphia – Drexel Field Hockey gears up for its final two Colonial Athletic Association games this weekend at Buckley Field. The Dragons will face Northeastern on Friday, October 28 at 7:00 p.m. followed by a match-up against Hofstra on Sunday. Drexel enters the contest 10-7 overall after falling to No. 3 Maryland, 6-2, on Wednesday night at the Terrapins' Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex.
Northeastern leads the all-time series 16-4 with one tie between them. Last year, Northeastern upset Drexel, 3-2, after scoring two goals in the final six minutes of play. The defeat snapped Drexel's record-tying nine game winning streak and handed the Dragons only their third loss in the progam's last 22 regular season conference games. For the game, Northeastern outshot Drexel, 16-13, and earned eight penalty corners to the Dragons' two. Both goalies made five saves on the day.
The Huskies improved to 12-5 after a 4-1 win over Boston University last Sunday. Northeastern has won seven of their last games, including victories over the CAA's Hofstra, Delaware, VCU, and James Madison. Junior Crystal Poland leads the team with 25 goals, three assists, and 53 points. Teammate Senior Carolyn Malloy has tallied 17 assists. Junior goalkeeper Lizzie Priest has made 112 stops for Northeastern.
