Men's Squash Wraps Up Fall Schedule with 9-0 Defeat at Penn

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel men's squash team concluded the fall portion of its schedule on Wednesday evening with its stiffest test yet, facing the ninth-ranked Penn Quakers at Ringe Squash Courts just down 33rd Street from the Dragons' home courts at the Daskalakis Athletic Center. The host Quakers got the victory in their first match of the season, handling the Dragons, 9-0.
Drexel finished the fall portion of its first varsity season 4-5.
The Dragons' outing on Wednesday was highlighted by No. 2 player Sebastian Dangond Gala, who stretched his match to four games before falling to Penn's senior co-captain Trevor McGuinness, 11-7, 11-9, 5-11, 11-4. Gala was the only Dragon to claim a game as the Quakers whitewashed the Dragons through the other eight matches, plus three exhibitions.
Justin Singh, the Dragons' top-ranked player, fell for just the second time this season, losing to Thomas Mattsson at the top spot, 11-5, 11-6, 11-7.
Harshil Dokania, playing at the fifth position for the fifth time this year, put up a strong fight against John Dudzik, 11-5, 11-5, 11-6. Paul Jamrgowicz also performed well in an exhibition match at No. 10, dropping to Matt Sheridan, 11-4, 11-8, 11-6.
The Dragons will return to the courts at the Maine Round Robin on January 27. They will face Bowdoin, Colby, MIT and Bates over two days before returning to Philadelphia for the first home match in the varsity history of the Dragons, February 2 against Haverford.
