Men's Lax Falls at No. 4 Notre Dame

Fourth-ranked Notre Dame scored three goals in the fourth quarter to break a 6-6 tie and defeated Drexel, 11-7. Drexel (1-3) scored the first three goals of the game, but the Irish responded with a big second quarter and held off a late Drexel rally. Notre Dame stayed unbeaten at 3-0.
Drexel played a strong first period and got a quick jump on the Irish. Brendan Glynn scored first and was followed by a Craig Owen goal. Glynn scored his second of the game to put the Dragons up 3-0. Notre Dame finally stopped the run when Westy Hopkins fired a shot past Mark Manos with just four seconds left in the game. Hopkins' goal started a 5-0 Notre Dame run which spanned over the second and third period.
The Dragons ended the run with 6:57 remaining in the third period. Scott Perri's goal made it a 5-4 Irish lead. Kyle Bergman then scored a pair of goals to put the Dragons ahead, 6-5, at the end of the third period. The lead didn't last as the Irish scored the next four goals to give themselves a three-goal cushion late in the game. Drexel sophomore Robert Church trimmed the lead to 9-7 with under five minutes to play before Notre Dame iced it with two goals.
Manos made 15 saves and allowed 10 of the 11 goals for Drexel. Notre Dame outshot the Dragons, 38-27 and won 13 of 22 face offs. Drexel returns home to start a four-game homestand against Saint Joseph's on Wednesday.
