Drexel Field Hockey Hosts City Rival Temple on Sunday

Philadelphia – The Drexel field hockey team welcomes Temple on Sunday, September 18 at 12:00 p.m. at Buckley Field. The Dragons enter the contest with a 5-2 record after breaking a scoreless tie in the second half to top Lafayette, 1-0, on Friday night at home. The all-time series is tied, 5-5-1, between both squads.
Senior goalkeeper Kim Chiarelli earned her first career start and shutout for Drexel. Chiarelli tied her career high with four saves against Lafayette. The Bridgeton, New Jersey native now has eight saves on the season.
Last season, Ashley Santee led the Dragons past the Owls, 3-1. Jen Cairone scored a goal and added an assist while fellow seniors Christina Mastropaolo and Megan Keller also added assists. Drexel outshot the Owls, 15-10, for the game and held a 3-2 advantage in penalty corners.
The Owls have improved to 3-4 overall after defeating Delaware, 2-1, on Friday. Temple has also picked up wins against Kent State and Bucknell. Senior forward Bridget Settles leads the Owl's offense with nine goals and two assists for 20 points. Sophomore goalkeeper Lizzy Millen has controlled the defense with 36 saves.
