Drexel to Open Conference Play at James Madison on Friday Night

Philadelphia – Drexel Field Hockey will begin its Colonial Athletic Association season schedule as the Dragons visit James Madison on Friday, September 23 at 7:00 p.m. The Dragons are now 6-2 overall after a thrilling 2-1 victory over Temple at Buckley Field last Sunday. Drexel enters the weekend with a 1-2 record on the road this season.
James Madison leads the all-time series 8-4. Last season, Drexel outlasted James Madison, 3-2. Lindsay McArdle scored her first career goal, while Kim Tunell and Christina Mastropaolo each added a goal. Despite the final score, the Dukes held an 18-15 advantage in shots and an 8-6 edge in penalty corners.
The Dukes improved to 3-3 overall and captured its second straight overtime win against Richmond last Saturday. James Madison topped the Spiders, 2-1, after two extended periods followed by penalty strokes. The Dukes also tallied wins against Radford and Appalachian State. Freshman Taylor West leads the team with three goals and an assist for seven points. Senior goalkeeper Margo Savage has posted 31 saves on the season.
