State College, Pa. – No. 15 Drexel Field Hockey dropped a 3-1 decision to No. 11 Iowa in a tightly contested non-conference game at the neutral site of Penn State. The Hawkeyes held a slim advantage in shots, 14-10, while the Dragons drew nine penalty corners to Iowa's eight. Drexel is now 10-5 overall and remain 3-1 in the Colonial Athletic Association. Iowa moved to 10-3 on the season.

The Hawkeyes opened up the first half with a quick goal by Kelsey Mitchell. Iowa went on to score two more goals for a comfortable 3-0 lead at halftime. In the 59^th minute of play, senior Amanda Fleischut scored from Rebecca Werner's pass to cut Iowa's lead to two, 3-1. Drexel pulled goalkeeper Jantien Gunter with 66:21 remaining in order to put extra pressure on the Hawkeye's defense, but ran out of time before capitalizing in the circle. Fleischut finished with six shots on goal.

Juniors Lindsay McArdle and Kristen Focht each recorded a defensive save for the Dragons. Sophomore Rebecca Werner along with the defensive unit helped hold the Hawkeyes scoreless in the final half. Sophomore Jantien Gunter posted four key saves. She now has 73 stops on the season. Opposing goalkeeper Kathleen McGraw turned away seven of Drexel's attempts on cage.

The Dragons will conclude its second consecutive weekend on the road at Columbia on Sunday, October 14. The game is set for 1:00 p.m. Drexel is 4-4 away and 1-1 at neutral sites.
