
Crew Wins Head of the Schuylkill's Overall Point Trophy for Third Straight Year

Final Results
Philadelphia – Drexel University's men's and women's crew team claimed the overall team point title for the third consecutive year at the 2012 Head of the Schuylkill Regatta. Together, the Dragons had seven boats finish in the top-five in their events.
The women's novice 'A' boat earned third-place with a time of 15:08.75 out of 27 entries. Old Dominion won the race with a time of 14:52.39 followed by Navy at 15:05.37. Coxswain Rachel Bowen led the Marlene Buckley boat with stroke Rose Ehrlich, Julie McGlynn, Taylor Brady, Rebecca McCool, Megan Raver, Kimberly Whitbeck, Jordan Marinchak and bow Kate Wilchek.
The novice 'B' boat also competed in the same event finishing 12th overall. The John Daskalakis featured coxswain Ariana Kaufmann, Caitlin Bubel, Carli Moorehead, Olivia Carigan, Elisabeth Wagner, Ashley Liddell, Patience Dodgson, Skye Miller and bow Rio Monte. The women's second novice eight finished before Lehigh, St. John Fisher, Rochester, TCNJ, Villanova, Rutgers, Franklin and Marshall, Scranton, Schenectady, Haverford, Bryant, Lafayette, Richard Stockton and La Salle.
The second varsity 'A' boat finished third with a time of 14:34.39 out of 31 participants in the women's open club eights final. Trinity clocked in at 14:22.52 for first-place as Navy trailed in second. The Marlene Buckley was guided by coxswain Sarah Messenger, stroke Tori King, Mallory Sykes, Kayla Wroblesky, Emily Gartland, Amanda Kleuser, Bridget Pfeifer, Amanda Dargay and bow Alexa Antonioli.
The second varsity 'B' boat, in the Maria Papadakis, finished fifth overall in the same event with a time of 14:58.07. The boat comprised of coxswain Catherine Hamilton, stroke Meredith Bracken, Sierra Baca, Jayme Batcher, Elise Panacek, Kathy Cheng, Alyssa Leahy, Barbara McKenna and bow Elise Levito. Drexel clocked in ahead of Hamilton, Holy Cross, Rochester, Lafayette, Navy, Villanova, Fordham, Franklin and Marshall, Temple, St. Mary's, Loyola, Temple, Union, La Salle, Bryant, Scranton and Charleston.
The varsity eight wrapped up the day with a sixth-place finish out of 27 crews posting a time of 14:16.53. Michigan State won the women's heavy championship eight final with a top-time of 13:56.45, while Navy took second stopping the clock at 13:56.65. Kerry Walsh coxed the Marlene Buckley II boat along with stroke Julia Jackson, Elizabeth Campanella, Olivia Babiec, Samantha Cowan, Amanda O'Malley, Elizabeth Daugherty, Mollie Cusack and bow Colleen Delaney. The Dragons outlasted Temple, Old Dominion, Trinity, Duquesne, Hamilton, West Virginia, Fordham, West Point, La Salle, Rochester, Lehigh, Villanova, Philadelphia, Old Dominion and Richard Stockton.
For the men's team, Drexel's open four with a coxswain finished 24th out of 40 crews with a time of 15:31.49 in the opening race on Saturday. Merrimac stopped the clock first at 13:49.84 followed by Union and Fordam. The LeBow College of Business boat consisted of coxswain Jacquelyn Durkin, David Gockley, Milos Rujevic, Andrew Weinstein and bow Brian Kissam. Together, the Dragons outlasted Wilmington, Union, TCNJ, Rutgers, La Salle, Duke, Carnegie Mellon, Loyola, Scranton, Richard Stockton, Catholic University, Connecticut and Lehigh.
Drexel's novice 'A' boat had a strong fourth-place finish with a time of 13:10.53 out of 29 entries. Princeton's first and second novice eights earned the top two spots crossing the finish line at 12:27.27 and 12:49.18 respectively. Penn took third with a time of 12:55.50. The Vince Vidas shell featured Thomas Nuygen, stroke Mikulas Sum, Michael DiLucca, Daniel Palombo, Daniel Dollin, Paul Bellefleur, Nicholas Capaldi, Lawrence Lindawan and bow Daniel Pyle.
