Women's Swimming and Diving Falls at Loyola Meet

Loyola, Md. – Drexel men's swimming and diving won all three meets at Loyola on Saturday afternoon. The men defeated Seton Hall, 165.50-132.50, Loyola, 170-118, and Lafayette, 220-80. The women's team came up short to Seton Hall, 183-111, Loyola, 174-120, and Lafayette, 163.50-131.50.
For the women, Lauren Faykes and Brianna Bentz took first place and second place respectively in the 100 fly event. Bentz also recorded first in the 50 free event with a time of 24.40. The women's 200 medley relay earned first place against a number of fast teams. Katie Duggan, Jessica Gidzinski, Faykes and Bentz clocked in a top-time of 1:50.32.
The men's team stopped the clock first in a number of events throughout the meet. Individually, Sophomore Chad Schmidt won the 100 breaststroke coming in with a time of 59.31 while teammate Kyle Lukens took first in the 100 butterfly. Joel Berryman had a solid performance wining both of the backstroke events and was a member of both victorious relay teams. For the relays, the men's 200 medley took first place, which set the tone for the remainder of the day. Berryman, Schmidt, Lukens and Alex Bagshaw clocked in at 1:34.72 which marked Drexel's fastest dual meet time in program history. The men also took first in the 400 yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:09.45 and a team of Alex Chialastri, Berryman, Mike Krohn and Bagshaw.
On the boards, David Sanchez and Madison Kramer both brought home a win for the team. Sanchez totaled a 307.05 in the 3-meter out of seven divers, while Kramer scored 254.15 for first place out of nine divers.
