BOX SCORE
ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The men's tennis team saw its four-match winning streak snapped on Sunday as it fell at Navy, 7-0. Drexel had some solid individual and doubles efforts, but could not break through with a point as they fell for the first time since Jan. 20.
Playing together for just the second time, Badr Ouabdelmoumen and Dan Hansen got off to a slow start at No. 2 doubles, which ended up costing them overall. They rebounded nicely and made things competitive at the top, but could not overcome that slow start as they fell, 8-6. It was a similar story for Dan Koehler and Jeganathan Srinivasan at No. 3, who were unable to hold serve and dropped an 8-3 decision. Skyler Davis and Bryan Nguyen were done in by the strong serves of opponents Calvin Mack and Peter McDonald, also falling 8-3.
In singles play, Ouabdelmoumen dropped a 6-4, 6-1 match at the No. 1 position, playing strong in the first set but finding himself unable to hold serve against the impressive Marcus Rebersak. Srinivasan bounced back from a tough start to play some good tennis down the stretch, nevertheless falling at No. 2, 6-0, 6-4.
Nguyen dropped his match at No. 3, 6-2, 6-1. Playing at No. 4, Davis faced a left-handed opponent in Tyler Burnett. Davis attmpted to make Burnett use his backhand, but that low percentage shot did not pay off, as Davis struggled with returns and fell, 6-3, 6-3. Paul Stauskas dropped his match at No. 5, 6-2, 6-0, while Darius Frick played well at No. 6 but could not break through, falling 6-1, 6-4.
Drexel will return to the courts next Sunday when they visit Lehigh at 10:00 a.m.
