Nick Saputo Named CAA Men's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week

Drexel freshman Nick Saputo has been named this week's Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week. Saputo played a key role in Drexel's 13-5 victory against Towson on Saturday.
Saputo, one of the team's face-off specialists, won seven of his eight draws, all which came during the second half. The Dragons were able to improve on a 6-4 halftime lead and cruise to victory and a berth in the upcoming CAA Tournament, which starts a week from Wednesday. The Dragons controlled possession for most of the second half due to Saputo's performance, and allowed just eight shots in the second half.
Saputo has now won 60 percent of his face-offs this season. He has played a bigger role as of late, winning 15 of 23 attempts in the last three weeks. Overall, the first-year performer has 27 wins in 45 attempts.
Drexel is now 6-7 on the season and 4-2 in CAA play. The Dragons close out the regular season on Senior Day Saturday against St. John's at Vidas Field. They open up CAA Tournament action on May 2 at Penn State. The time has not yet been determined.
