Kimbrough Scores Two as Women's Soccer Defeats UMBC, 3-0

Catonsville, Md. – The Drexel women's soccer team defeated the UMBC Retrievers, 3-0, on the road on Sunday afternoon. The Dragons improve to 2-1-1 on the season, while the Retrievers are now 1-2-1.

Megan Hammaker put Drexel on the board first with a shot from the right wing from Alyssa Findlay with 12 minutes to go in the first half. The Dragons took five additional shots, but the score held at 1-0 with Drexel leading going into halftime.

Drexel's second goal came from freshman Shyanne Kimbrough in the 66th minute off a feed from Melissa Chapman. Kimbrough's drive pulled UMBC's goalie Lauren Kadet out of the goal to challenge her, but the freshman broke free and scored on an open net to add to the Dragons' lead.

Kimbrough added a second goal in the game with three minutes to go. Civanni Moss dribbled the ball down the left side and dished it to Kimbrough who sank a shot into the net near the left post. The goal marks Kimbrough's third on the season in two appearances.

Drexel outshot UMBC 20-3 in its first road victory of the season.

The Dragons return home on Friday to take on Liberty at 8:00 p.m. as part of a triple-header at Vidas Field. The day kicks off with men's soccer vs. Sacred Heart at 3:30 p.m. followed by field hockey taking on Saint Joseph's at 6:00 p.m.
