PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel field hockey team defeated Bucknell, 2-0, under the lights at Buckley Field. Senior co-captain Elise DiDonato and junior Margaux Lourtie both scored in the second half helping the Dragons improve to 3-2 overall and 2-0 at home. The Bison dropped to 2-3 on the season.

After 35 minutes of competitive play, the Dragons and the Bison were unable to break a 0-0 tie despite multiple scoring opportunities on both ends of the field. Drexel finished the first half with an 8-5 advantage in shots and drew five offensive penalty corners to Bucknell's one.

In the 54^th minute of the contest, sophomore Jenna Knouse took a hard shot from outside of the circle. Teammate Elise DiDonato deflected the incoming ball past Bucknell's Erica Perrine to give Drexel the first point of the game. The Dragons extended the game to two-goals 10 minutes later.

With 5:03 showing on the clock, junior Christina Conrad followed her shot attempt and jabbed the loose ball past Perrine, who was gearing up for another save. Junior Margaux Lourtie stationed herself behind the keeper, and directed the incoming ball from Conrad into the back of the cage. Drexel held onto the lead for the remainder of the second half.

Junior goalkeeper Jantien Gunter made four key stops against the Bison and posted her second shutout of the season. She now has 33 saves combined and eight career shutouts. Buckell's Erica Perrine tallied six saves. Knouse also earned her first career assist.

The Dragons will play two games in Kent, Ohio next week. Drexel will face Kent State on Thursday, September 19 at 1:00 p.m. followed by Iowa at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 21.
