
Swimming and Diving fall to Delaware and Northeastern

NEWARK, DEL.- Despite great effort, the Drexel men's and women's swimming and diving teams fell to Delaware and Northeastern. The meet was held at the Bob Carpenter Center.
The men were defeated by the Blue Hens, 156.50-140.50, while the women fell to the Blue Hens, 218-79, and also to Northeastern, 213-84.
The men kicked off the day by winning the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:33.40. Joel Berryman, Chad Schmidt, Kyle Lukens and Alex Bagshaw. The next win for the Dragons came from Andrew Reimon in the 100 breast. Reimon touched the wall at 59.11, followed by teammates Schmidt and Greg Oprendek. In the 50 free, Berryman took first with a quick time of 21.34. Berryman came back for his second individual win of the day in the 200 back with a time of 1:52.18. In the 200 breast, Reimon brought home another win for the Dragons with a 2:09.57, followed by Schmidt with a 2:09.96. Lukens took first in the 100 fly stopping the clock at 50.48, and Mike Krohn came in close second with a 50.77. The Dragons then finished the meets events by taking first in the 400 relay. Teammates Berryman, Lukens, Alex Chialastri, and Bagshaw finished in 3:06.82.
For the women, Rachel Bernhardt brought home Drexel's first win in the 100 breast touching the wall at 1:05.27. In the 200 back, Gizem Yali swam to a second place finish with a time of 2:07.40. Bernhardt also had a third place finish in the 200 breast touching the wall at 2:27.09.
On the boards, David Sanchez grabbed second place in the 1 meter with a score of 265.55. Sanchez then came back to take first in the 3 meter with a 311.65. In the women's 1 meter, Madison Kramer grabbed first place with a score of 294.45. Kramer stayed strong and took first place again in the 3 meter with a 296.10.
