
Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Take Down Georgetown

WASHINGTON, D.C.- Men's and women's swimming and diving defeated Georgetown in today's meet. The men finished over Georgetown, 161-125, while the women took the meet 156-141.
Drexel kicked off the meet against Georgetown in usual Dragon fashion, as they won both 200 medley relay events. Teammates Katie Duggan, Rachel Bernhardt, Emily Lau, and Claudia Duguay took first with a time of 1:50.30. The men followed with a time of 1:36.48, with a squad of Kyle Lukens, Chad Schmidt, Michael Krohn, and Alex Bagshaw.
On the women's side, and the next win for the team came from Aubrey Murray in the 200 free. Murray stopped the clock at 1:56.73. Duggan snatched her first individual win in the 100 back with a time of 59.86. Bernhardt then raked in another win for the Dragons in the 100 breast, touching the wall in 1:07.80. in the 50 free, Brianna Bentz made her mark when she took first in 24.44. Bentz didn't stop there, as she swam to first in the 100 free, finishing with a time of 53.62. In the 200 back, senior Gizem Yali brought home first when she stopped the clock at 2:10.02. Bernhardt came back for her second individual win when she took the 200 breast in 2:28.32. Bentz came back for a solid win in the 100 fly, stopping the clock at 59.69.
For the men, Alex Chialastri took the 200 free in 1:44.59. Followed by teammate Joel Berryman who took first in the 100 back. Berrymen touched the wall in 52.91. In an impressive swim, Andrew Reimon and teammate Schmidt tied for first in the 100 breast, both clocking in at 1:00.06. The next win came from Lukens in the 200 fly with a time of 1:56.82. Bagshaw grabbed his first individual win when he took the 50 free in 21.80. Chialastri pulled out another win for the team when he took first in the 100 free with a time of 48.08. In the 200 back, Berryman came back for a second first place finish with a time of 1:56.33. Reimon came back for a second first place finish in the 200 breast, when he beat the competition with a time of 2:12.20.
On the boards, Madison Kramer stole the competition when she landed a score of 286.59 in the 1 meter. she was followed by David Sanchez who took the 1 meter dive for the men with a score of 271.41. Kramer then came back later in the meet to take first in the 3 meter with a score of 281.03. sanchez followed suit as he placed first in the 3 meter with a final score of 271.41.
To conclude the meet, the women's took first in the 200 free relay. Bernhardt, Murray, Duguay, and Bentz finished with a time of 1:38.18.
The Dragons will return to the pool on Saturday, February 1 for a 1 p.m. meet as they host Lehigh on Senior Day.
