Philadelphia - Golfer Christopher Crawford earned medalist at the City Six Championships on Saturday. He shot a three-under 69 to win the tournament and helped the Dragons to a second place finish just two shots back of Penn. The victory marks his first of the year and the sixth of his career.
It seemed like just a matter of time before Crawford picked up his first victory of the year. The junior has had a number of near misses this fall, including three top-five finishes. Crawford made six birdies at the Philadelphia Cricket Club on the Militia Hill course and defeated his nearest opponent by two strokes.
Crawford wasn't the only Dragon to play well on Saturday. Sophomore Yoseph Dance and freshmen Avery Schneider each carded two-over-par 74s on the afternoon. Dance and teammate Adam Mistretta each had 13 pars on the afternoon, which tied with two other players for tops in the tournament. Mistretta had a good round as well, finishing up with a three-over-par 75.
As a team, Drexel shot a 292 on Saturday, two shots back of the Quakers who finished with a 290. Saint Joseph's was third, two strokes behind the Dragons, followed by La Salle at 302 and Villanova at 310.
