Golf Ties For Third in Spring Opener at Villanova

Final Results
Malvern, Pa. - The Drexel golf team opened the spring at Villanova's Wildcat Invitational and tied for third in the 16-team event. The Dragons shot an impressive 591 over two days at the White Manor Country Club.
The Dragons had consistent play on both days at the par-71 course. Drexel fired a 295 in the opening round on Monday and a 296 over the final 18 on Tuesday afternoon. The team finished 10 shots behind Binghamton, who won the event with a 581. Delaware came in second at 584. In the opening round, Chris Crawford shot a team-low 71, just one shot off the pace after the first day. Crawford ended the tournament at two-over par (144), just four shots behind Lehigh's Billy John, who earned medalist honors after carding a 140.
Freshman Adam Mistretta finished the tournament in fine fashion, shooting a 69 on the second-day. He was one of just five players to shoot two-under par or better in the tournament. Mistretta ended the tournament in a tie for eighth place overall with a 145. Avery Schneider and Brian Fischer each finished at 151.
Drexel will be back in action next Monday. The Dragons will fly to Seattle where they will play at Chambers Bay on Monday and Tuesday.
