No. 17 Clemson Defeats Women's Soccer, 3-0

Clemson, S.C. - The Drexel women's soccer team fell to Clemson, 3-0, on the road Thursday night. The Dragons held the No. 17-ranked Tigers scoreless through 24 minutes and then with one goal into the 86th minute.
Drexel played strong defense against the nationally ranked opponent throughout the competition. The Tigers scored their first goal, however, in the 25 minute as Gabby Byorth put one into the bottom right corner of the net. Drexel goalkeeper Kelsie Fye was pulled out of the net as she deflected a cross from the left side. The deflection went straight to Byorth who quickly knocked it past both Fye and a defender.
The Dragons entered halftime still trailing the Tigers, 1-0. The second half showcased the defense of both teams as Drexel held Clemson to three shots on goal and only got off two shots of its own after halftime.
The Tigers increased their lead with just over four minutes to go in regulation as Clemson's Claire Wagner put a free kick into the upper left corner of the net past a diving Fye. Then with 30 seconds remaining, Clemson solidified its victory as Paige Reckert headed a pass from Shannon Horgan into the net for the Tigers' third goal of the game.
With the loss, Drexel moves to 1-5 on the season while Clemson improves to 6-0-1 overall. The Tigers outshot the Dragons, 16-3. Fye tallied three saves in the losing effort. Clemson's Kailen Sheridan also recorded three saves on the game.
The Dragons return home on Sunday to host Syracuse at Vidas Field at 1:00 p.m.
