Dragons Finish Fifth at Cornell Invitational

The Drexel golf team finshed fifth in the Cornell Invitational this past weekend in Ithaca, N.Y. The Dragons trailed by just one stroke entering the final 18 holes, but were unable to catch eventual-champion Dartmouth.
Chris Crawford tied for third place overall at the event that he won last year. The junior finished at seven-over-par at 220. He was just two strokes behind medalist Blake Carter of Longwood. Drexel freshman Avery Schneider and sophomore Yoseph Dance tied for 29th overall at 232. Brian Fischer had a 78 in the final round, the Dragons second-best score on Sunday. Drexel played very well on Saturday shooting a 299 in the morning round and a 300 later in the day. However, Sunday the team didn't score as well, carding a 311 on the day.
The Big Green finished the 54-hole event at the Robert Trent Jones Course at 904. Dartmouth held off Penn and Delaware, who tied for second just one shot back after strong third rounds. Colgate placed fourth, one stroke better than the Dragons, who ended the tournament at 910.
