FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Goals from Meghan Plank, Idrienne Walker and Mary Lynam powered Drexel past Fairfeld on Sunday by the score of 3-0. The Dragons move to 3-1 on the season with the Stags falling to 2-2.

"Our strong passing and good transition play gave us an edge is today's contest. Meghan Plank put us on the board late in the first half, which settled the team [down] and reinforced our confidence in the red zone", said head coach Denise Zelenak postgame.

Plank got the Dragons going on the afternoon with her goal in the 33rd minute when she put home a rebound off a shot from Jessica McCarthy from the point. The tally is Plank's second of the season and the assist is McCarthy's first of 2014.

Lynum doubled the Dragon lead at the 55:11 mark off a cross from Rachel Sumfest, for her first tally of the season. Sumfest recorded the first of her two assists on the afternoon, pushing her total to four on the season.

Walker's tally finished the scoring for the Dragons with just under 10 minutes to play for her second of the season. Walker came off the bench to put home a feed from Sumfest, which beat Emma Ball in the Stag goal.

Zelenak continued, "We were also very pleased with the performances of the players coming off the bench, showing the depth of our squad."

Jantien Gunter went the distance in goal to record her 12th shutout of her career and first this season and earned her third win of the season.

The Dragons returns to the field on Saturday, September 13 when they travel to preseason No. 1 Maryland in College Park, Maryland.
