BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Drexel men's soccer team came up short in its attempt to win for the first time in 2015, holding a high-powered Bowling Green offense to just one goal but failing to notch an equalizer as the Dragons fell, 1-0. Bowling Green got a penalty kick goal in the 25th minute and made it stand up the rest of the way.
Drexel redshirt freshman goalkeeper Jacob Jordan performed well in his first career start, allowing just the point blank goal to Bowling Green's Jacob Roth. Jordan had seven saves to keep the Dragons (0-3) within a goal of evening the score.
Unfortunately for Jordan and the Dragons, Drexel was unable to get anything going offensively. The Dragons managed just six total shots, only two of which tested Bowling Green keeper Ryan Heuton. Aaron Thompson was responsible for both of those, including a shot in the 87th minute that marked perhaps the Dragons' best chance to tie things up. Erik Alexandersson, Colin McGlynn and Francisco Rodrigues da Palma each had one shot on the game, while Thompson finished with three total shots.
The Dragons wrapped up a three-game season-opening road trip with the loss on Thursday. Drexel will open its home schedule on Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. when the Dragons host No. 7 Washington at Vidas Field.
