TOWSON, Md. - The Drexel women's soccer team picked up a 2-0 win over Towson on Sunday afternoon to go 2-0 on its second weekend of conference play. Madison Dunn and Vanessa Kara each picked up their fourth goal of the season as they scored a goal apiece in the Dragons' winning effort.
Dunn started things off for the Dragons as she got the team on the board in just the third minute. Kylie Strong sent a cross into the box and while Towson goalie Taylor Sebolao was able to punch it out, the ball found Dunn who was able to put it away for Drexel's first goal of the game.
Kara then extended Drexel's lead in the 26th minute as she took the ball into the box herself and fired it into the net. The Dragons would take its 2-0 advantage into halftime and then hold the TIgers off for the remainder of regulation to walk away with their second win of the weekend.
The Dragons outshot the Tigers, 17-14. Drexel keeper Christiana Ogunsami picked up two shutouts on the weekend and now totals seven on the season. She recorded four saves against the Tigers, while Towson's Sebolao tallied five on the outing.
With the victory, the Dragons improve to 7-5-1 overall and 3-1 in conference play. Towson moves to 5-8-1 on the year and 2-2 against CAA opponents.
The Dragons return to action next weekend as they will return home to host College of Charleston and UNCW for a conference series at Vidas Field. Drexel will take on the Cougars on Friday night at 7 p.m. before they welcome the Seahawks to West Philadelphia on Sunday for Alumni Day. Sunday's game is set to begin at noon.
