PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel No. 9 men's and No. 10 women's squash teams close out the 2016 portion of the schedule with four-straight days of matches beginning on Wednesday, November 30 before concluding on Saturday, December 3. The Drexel men play in the only home contest of the week at the Kline & Specter Squash Center against No. 6 Penn on Wednesday at 6 p.m. The women then travel to No. 4 Princeton on Thursday at 6 p.m. Both squads then hit the road to take on Middlebury in Middlebury, Vt. on Friday before making their way back down to Williams in Williamstown, Mass. on Saturday.
DREXEL
Drexel brings a No. 9 rank for the men and No. 10 rank for the women into the final weekend of competition in 2016. The men have wins over Navy and Bowdoin. Sophomore Bransten Ming has played four of the team's five matches from the No. 1 position with a 2-2 mark.
The Drexel women's lone win of the campaign thus far came against Bowdoin in a neutral site match in Hartford, Conn. on November 20.
PENN
The No. 6 Penn men jumped out to a 2-0 start to the 2016-17 season with wins over George Washington and Virginia on Saturday, Nov. 19. The Quakers went 11-6 last season which included a close 5-4 win over Drexel in November 2015.
PRINCETON
The No. 4 Princeton women are 3-0 on the campaign with wins against Stanford, Franklin & Marshall and George Washington from Friday, Nov. 18 to Sunday, Nov. 20.
MIDDLEBURY
The Middlebury Panthers open play with their first match of the season on Friday against Drexel. Both the Panther men and women are currently ranked No. 15 in the latest CSA poll. In 2015-16, the men went 13-6 on their way to playing in the Hoehn Cup. Similarly, the women finished 9-9 a season ago with an appearance in the Kurtz Cup. Drexel played in both the B Division Hoehn and Kurtz Cup at team nationals.
WILLIAMS
The No. 18 Williams men are 2-2 on the season. The Ephs opened the campaign with losses to Cornell and Western Ontario before defeating Dickinson and Hamilton. The No. 12 women are currently 3-1 in 2016-17 with victories against William Smith, Dickinson and Hamilton with a loss at Cornell.
LOOKING FORWARD
This week wraps up play for the Dragons until Drexel hosts Harvard at the Kline & Specter Squash Center on Friday, January 13 to open the 2017 half of the schedule.
