No. 10 Women’s Squash Pushes Past Brown, Set for Kurtz Cup Championship

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The No. 10 Drexel women's squash team (11-6) pushed past the No. 11 Brown Bears on Saturday evening a Kurtz Cup semifinals matchup, 5-4. The Dragons will now face No. 9 Dartmouth tomorrow, Sunday, Feb. 28 at 2 p.m. in the B Division Kurtz Cup Championship as Drexel looks for its first Kurtz Cup.

Drexel earned wins the in top half of the ladder on Saturday to make its way into the Kurtz Cup Championship.

Sophomore Hayley Hughes won in the No. 1 spot for the Dragons as she swept Brown's Quincy Beck, 11-4, 11-6, 11-4.

In the No. 2 position, sophomore Ryan Morgan dropped the first game to Skylar Murphy but won the next three of four to take the match that went the distance, 7-11, 13-11, 10-12, 11-4, 11-6.

Junior Mary Fung-A-Fat defeated Isabel Scherl of the Bears, 11-2, 10-12, 12-10, 11-7, from the No. 3 spot.

Freshman Fiona Power downed Emily Richmond for a 11-4, 12-10, 7-11, 15-13 No. 4 position decision.

Junior Elisa Money earned a 11-4, 11-5, 11-6 sweep for the Dragons from the No. 5 spot.

Drexel's Morgan and Power both own 12-4 records on the campaign to lead the squad. Hughes is now 12-5 on the season.

The matchup with No. 9 Dartmouth was set after the Big Green defeated Williams College. The Dragons are 1-1 all-time against the Big Green with the lone win coming earlier this season.
