WILMINGTON, N.C. - The Drexel golf team takes to the course for the first time this spring on Sunday. The Dragons will participate in the Seahawk Intercollegiateon Sunday and Monday. The tournament, which will be hosted by UNCW, will take place at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C.
Drexel had one of its best falls in recent memory. The Dragons picked up victories in the first two events of the year. They won the Keenan Invitational hosted by St. Bonaventure and the Columbia/Tuxedo Autumn Invitational. This weekend, the Dragons will play in a field that includes four teams currently ranked in the Golfstat top 100; Duke, UNCW, Campbell and James Madison. Also competing this weekend is Army West Point, Davidson, Elon, Francis Marion, George Mason, Rhode Island, Richmond, Rutgers and Western Carolina.
The Dragons will have Chris Crawford, Yoseph Dance, Adam Mistretta, Michael Cook and Aaron Fricke participating in the opening event of the spring. Crawford is looking to defend his title of CAA Golfer of the Year. He shot par or better in six rounds during the fall season and finished fifth overall last spring in the CAA Championships. Yoseph Dance averaged a 74 during the fall and has become a much more consistent performer for the team. Mistretta and Fricke, both sophomores, seem primed for a good spring, while Cook, just a freshman, will get his first look at CAA foes this weekend.
