Golf Finishes Fourth in Rain-Shortened Navy Fall Classic

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Drexel golf team's play in the season-opening Navy Fall Classic at the Naval Academy Golf Course in Annapolis, Md. was shortened due to rain. The Dragons placed fourth in the tournament with a team score of 293. Play was originally scheduled for Sunday and Monday.

Drexel completed its first round of the 2016-17 season on Sunday, shooting 293 on day one of the abbreviated tournament.

Aaron Fricke led the Dragons with a one-under-par 70 on Sunday. He tied for third overall, just two shots behind a pair of golfers. Redshirt freshman Brendan Bacskai and true freshman Connor Schmidt each carded a 74 in their first tournament. Yoseph Dance chipped in with a 75.

Drexel entered Monday trailing Wagner College by 10 strokes before the remainder of tournament was cancelled. Robert Morris finished second at 288 in front of California (Pa.) at 290. The Dragons finished tied with Delaware and Navy in the 16-team tournament.
