PHILADELPHIA - The Drexel women's soccer team earned a 1-0 victory over Fairfield on Thursday evening. Madison Dunn found the goal in the 61st minute to give Drexel the advantage and it proved to be the game-winner.
The first half saw tough defense from both sides and the contest remained scoreless as the Dragons and Stags headed to the locker rooms for halftime. Drexel was able to come out and get the advantage just over 15 minutes into the second half as Dunn found a pass from Vanessa Kara at the top of the box and put it in the net. Kara came up towards the goal on the right side and tapped it over the center to Dunn, allowing the junior forward to record her third goal of the season.
The Dragons were able to hold on to get the win and improve to 4-3 on the season. With the loss, Fairfield moves to 1-6 on the year.
The Stags outshot the Dragons, 14-9 in their losing effort. Drexel keeper Christiana Ogunsami recorded six saves in the victory, while Fairfield's Jenna Pike tallied three.
The Dragons return to action on Sunday, Sept. 11 as they visit No. 23 Rutgers in Piscataway, N.J. The game is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
