Burlington, N.C. - The Drexel golf team will look to continue its impressive fall when it takes to the course on Monday afternoon at the Phoenix Invitational hosted by Colonial Athletic Association-foe Elon University. The Dragons are coming off an impressive victory at the Quechee Club Collegiate Challenge two weeks ago where they set a team record by shooting 12-under par in the final round.
The Dragons will be competing at the Alamance Country Club in Burlington. The par-71 course plays to 6,887 yards. Day one will feature 36 holes of golf beginning at 8:45. On Tuesday, the teams will play 18 holes beginning play at 8 a.m. Live stats can be found at https://www.birdiefire.com/tournament/42032/.
The Drexel five for the Phoenix Invitational will consist of Michael Cook, Angelo Giantsopoulos, Aaron Fricke, Ethan Mangum and Adam Mistretta. Fricke was outstanding in Drexel's win in Vermont. He was named the CAA Co-Player of the Week after earning medalist honors at the tournament. Giantsopoulos was just one stroke behind Fricke and tied for third, while Mangum was also in the top 10.
This week, the Dragons will compete with 14 other schools as they look for back-to-back victories. The field includes Appalachian State, Delaware, Gardner-Webb, George Mason, George Washington, High Point, La Salle, Longwood, Morehead State, Presbyterian College, Radford, Towson, Western Carolina and the hosts from Elon.
