ELON, N.C. - The Drexel men's soccer team saw its postseason hopes come to an end on Saturday night as the Dragons were defeated at Elon, 1-0. The loss eliminated the Dragons from contention for the upcoming CAA Championships.
Elijah Agu scored the game's only goal in the 18th minute, a breakaway opportunity after a pass from John Walden found Agu racing behind the Drexel defense. The Dragons managed just three shots on the evening, none of which went on net.
Jacob Jordan came up with four saves in the loss as the Phoenix outshot Drexel 12-3 in total. Laolu Daranijo took two of the Dragons' three shots, with Dakota Peterson adding a third. All three Drexel shots came in the second half, with Daranijo getting off a header that floated just wide in the 83rd minute for perhaps the Dragons' best chance to equalize the score. Peterson's shot also went wide, coming off a corner kick in the 67th minute.
The Dragons will play their home finale on Tuesday night when they host La Salle at 7 p.m. The game will be preceded by Senior Night ceremonies as Drexel honors its six members of the senior class. Fans are encouraged to arrive early for that event.
