WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Drexel men's soccer team could not get its offense going on Saturday evening as the Dragons fell at No. 16 UNCW, 3-0. The Dragons were outshot 17-1 on the evening as a pair of early goals for the host Seahawks left them playing from behind most of the night.
After an uneventful start to the game, the Seahawks got on the board in the 12th minute when Emil Elveroth netted his first of the season with a header that caromed off the crossbar and trickled over the goal line before the Dragons could clear it. Two minutes later, another UNCW header, this one flicked in by David Lozano, made it a 2-0 game.
The Dragons' lone shot of the evening came in the 36th minute when Sebastien Cabral headed one in on goal that was saved by the Seahawks' Ryan Cretens. The shot came off a corner kick put in play by Anthony Amore.
Jacob Jordan had six saves in goal for Drexel. It was his third consecutive game with at least six stops and his seventh game of the year with that many saves.
Drexel will return home on Wednesday night when the Dragons host Hofstra in an important Colonial Athletic Association matchup. That game kicks off at 7 p.m.
