Philadelphia - Senior Aaron Fricke's birdie on the 18th hole gave Drexel a one-shot victory at the City Six Championship on Saturday. Drexel and Temple were tied heading into the last hole at the Union League Golf Club at Torresdale, but Fricke made a putt to give Drexel its second tournament win of the fall season.
Fricke, a senior from Denver, Pa., fired a one-under-par 69 on the par-70 course which played at 6,470 Yards. It was his second victory of the fall season. Fricke, who had four birdies on the back nine, was one shot better than Temple's John Marone who had a 70. Mark Farley, his teammate, placed third with a 71.
Drexel had a solid overall team effort in the win. Adam Mistretta shot a two-over-par 72 and finished in fourth place overall. He was one-under par on the back nine which included an eagle on 15. Alex Butler was just one shot behind Mistretta at 73. Michael Cook and Connor Schmidt each carded a 74.
As a team Drexel shot 288, eight shots over par, just one shot ahead of Temple. Penn placed third in the tournament with a 295, 15 shots over par. Villanova and Saint Joseph's tied for fourth place at 305, while La Salle finished the day at 310.
