No. 6 Men’s Squash Pulls Away Late in Midweek Win at No. 10 Princeton, 6-3

PRINCETON, N.J. – The No. 6 Drexel men's squash team (11-4) earned its 11th win of the campaign with a midweek victory on the road against the No. 10 Princeton Tigers (3-8) on Wednesday evening in New Jersey by a final of 6-3.
After four matches were turned in, the Dragons and Tigers were knotted at 2-all with five matches in progress. Drexel led two of those matches while Princeton also led in two. The fifth match was tied.
Freshmen Lucas Rousselet and Mostafa Aboul Makarim turned in the first two wins for the Dragons while Drexel dropped its No. 2 and No. 6 position matches as the match was tied 2-2 after four.
With the final five matches being played, senior Michael Thompson and sophomore Omar El Atmas led in theirs while junior Joshua Hughes and junior Noel Solomon trailed in the bottom third of the ladder. Junior Luke Willemse was tied at 1-1 in his.
El Atmas held onto his No. 1 position win over Princeton's Adhitya Raghavan, 11-3, 8-11, 11-9, 11-8 while Thompson ended up dropping his in five games from the No. 3 spot.
Hughes and Solomon both reserved their fortunes to come back, each winning in five games from the No. 7 and 9 positions. Both trailed 2-1 after three and ended up winning the fourth and fifth games to clinch the wins.
Willemse also grabbed the win from the No. 5 spot, 3-11, 11-9, 11-7, 11-8. The junior has now won 11-straight matches dating back to November 2016.
The Dragons will now look towards facing George Washington in Washington, D.C. on Friday, Feb. 10 before playing their final home match of the year on Senior Day against Dickinson on Sunday, Feb. 12 at the Kline & Specter Squash Center.
