Women's Soccer Falls to Hofstra by a 2-0 Deficit

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. - The Drexel women's soccer team fell to Hofstra by a 2-0 deficit on the road on Thursday evening. The Pride scored the game-winner off a penalty kick late in the first half and would hold on to earn its fourth consecutive win and extend its unbeaten streak to six games in a row.
Hofstra's first goal came in the 38th minute as a penalty kick from Pride standout Kristin Desmond got past keeper Christiana Ogunsami. The goal marked Desmond's seventh of the year and helped the Pride go into halftime leading the Dragons, 1-0.
The Drexel defense held Hofstra to one goal through most of the second half. It was with just over three minutes to play that the Pride added an insurance goal from Jenn Buoncore. Hofstra would hold the Dragons off in the remaining time and go on to secure a 2-0 victory over Drexel.
The Pride outshot the Dragons, 17-12 on the outing. Ogunsami recorded five saves on the night, while Hofstra's Ashley Wilson tallied two. Hofstra as a team also recorded one save.
With the loss the Dragons move to 6-5-1 overall and 1-1-1 against conference opponents. The win helped Hofstra improve to 7-3-2, 3-0 CAA.
Next up, the Dragons will return home on Sunday, Oct. 1 as they host Towson at Vidas Field on Alumni Day. The game is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
