TOWSON, Md. - Amy Ferguson's goal with less than five minutes left lifted the Dragons Sunday afternoon as the Drexel field hockey survived a scare on the road at Towson, 3-2. The Dragons improved to 8-8 (1-3 CAA), while Towson's losing streak extended to 11 games as it fell to 1-15 (0-5 CAA).

Towson came out and scored two quick goals in the opening six and a half minutes to knock the Dragons on their heels. Drexel, however, regained its composure, tighten its defense and chip away. In addition to Ferguson, Tess Horan and Tess Bernheimer scored for the Dragons.

Three and a half minutes into the game, Beira Ho found Katie McNeel for Towson's first goal. Then less than three minutes later, the Tigers, which had entered the game averaging less than one goal per game and had gone nearly a month since scoring multiple goals in a game, scored their second off the stick of Abby Webster to take a 2-0 lead. As the game neared the midway point of the first half, the Dragons would break through to halve the Tigers' lead as Megan Wiest found Horan for the score. The game would head into halftime with Drexel trailing, 2-1.

The second half was all Drexel as the Dragons dominated throughout, holding Towson without a shot in the final 35 minutes. Elevan and a half minutes into the second half, Bernheimer evened the score with her team-leading 11th goal of the season. The Dragons did not let their foot off the gas, outshooting Towson 5-0 after halftime and had six second-half corner chances to Towson's zero. Then, with less than five minutes remaining, Katie Pappas found Ferguson in front after a corner for the game-winning goal and the 3-2 victory.

Drexel went on to outshoot Towson, 8-6, overall. Both goalkeepers - Erin Gilchrist for Drexel and Mackenzie Peacock for Towson - made two saves apiece. Drexel had 10 penalty corner chances to Towson's three.

The Dragons return home to close out the regular season next weekend against Hofstra on Friday night and Northeastern Sunday afternoon for Senior Day.
