
Dragons Place Third at the ODU/OBX Invitational

Final Results
Powells Point, N.C. - The Drexel golf team finished in third place at the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate at on Tuesday. The Dragons had their best finish ever in the tournament. Sophomore Jeffrey Cunningham and junior Connor Schmidt each shot a one-under 70 on the day. Schmidt went under par in all three rounds and tied for fourth overall with a six-under 207.
After starting his day with two pars and a double bogey, Cunningham rebounded nicely. He proceeded to play the next 14 holes at four under before closing his round with a bogey. Schmidt had four birdies on the day as his phenomenal fall continued. Schmidt has now played nine of his last 10 rounds under par. Angelo Giantsopoulos ended his day with a birdie to post a one-over-par 72. Stephen Cerbara rounded out the scoring with a 74.
Campbell won the tournament by shooting 818 for the three days, a remarkable 34-under par. UNCW finished second as all four of its scorers shot 69 or better in the final round. Drexel took third place by edging out host Old Dominion by one stroke. Jesper Svensson of Campbell earned medalist honors by shooting 16-under par. He was seven strokes better than his teammate, Brett McLamb. Schmidt was Drexel's top finisher in fourth place.
Drexel will conclude its fall season by playing in the City 6 Invitational at Galloway National Golf Club. The Dragons will be looking to repeat as championships after winnings last seasons event.
