Women's Squash falls to Penn, 5-4, in Final Day of Pennsylvania State Classic

LANCASTER, Pa. – The No. 9 Drexel women's squash team fell 5-4 to No. 6 Penn on Sunday afternoon to close out competition at the Pennsylvania State Classic.
Emma MacGillivray and Fiona Power got the team off to a strong start winning in straight games. MacGillivary defeated Meg Frantz, 11-7, 11-1, 15-13 while Power outlasted Clare Kearns, 11-3, 11-7, 5-3. With Penn not being able to field a player at the No. 9 spot, the Dragons already had three matches under their belt. Brooke Herring played exceptionally mature game of Squash, winning in a close three games against Jamila Tamer, 11-3, 12-10, 11-6. The match was poised at 4-4 with Ona Prokes 2-1 up in games in the No. 5 spot, however, her opponent used all her experience to comeback with strong performances in the 4th and 5th games taking the match for Penn.
The Dragons will return to action when they host UVA for a 10 a.m. match at the Kline & Specter Squash Center.
