PHILADELPHIA – No. 13 Drexel men's squash opens February with two back-to-back matches this weekend. The Dragons kick off the weekend with an away match at No. 7 Columbia on Friday, Feb. 1 before returning home the following day to take on No. 11 Navy in their final home match of the season. Both matches are set to begin at 2 p.m.
Last Time Out
Then-No. 9 Drexel men's squash cruised to a 9-0 victory against No. 26 Colby on Sunday, Jan. 27 at the Kline & Specter Squash Center as the Dragons celebrated Senior Day. All six seniors earned victories to help the Dragons earn their fourth win of the season with Bransten Ming, Luke Willemse, Joshua Hughes, Will Grady and Ryan Leslie all taking down their opponents in straight sets. Scouting No. 7 Columbia
Columbia most recently defeated George Washington, 9-0, to improve its record to 4-4 overall this season. The Lions other wins were against No. 14 Cornell, No. 10 Virginia and No. 18 Williams. The season's most consistent position is the No. 1 spot where Velavan Senthikumar plays.
Scouting No. 11 Navy
After opening the first half of the season with an 11-1 mark, the Mids have struggled with what has been a daunting stretch of opponents since the holiday break. Navy is 1-2 in the month of January, earning a 5-4 win over No. 19 Williams, while dropping a pair of 7-2 decisions to No. 14 George Washington and No. 16 Cornell. Jack Lentz plays at the top of the ladder for Navy.
All-Time Series
Friday marks the seventh meeting between Drexel and Columbia, with Columbia leading the all-time series 5-1.
Navy and Drexel will meet for the 11th time since the series began in 2010. Going into Saturday's match, the series is split down the middle at five wins apiece.
